With this recent warm-up, experts with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority are keeping a close eye on our local waterways.
As the snow melts, water levels in 4 Mile Creek in Niagara-on-the-Lake and 12 Mile Creek in Pelham and Thorold have peaked, but are already beginning to recede.
However, 20 Mile Creek and the Welland River were still on the rise at last check. Officials tell us they don't expect levels to reach a critical point.
Some localized flooding is possible as we are entering into another warm day.
We started the day off hovering around 10 degrees, abut we are expected to cool off to about minus 2 by this afternoon.
Residents are reminded to keep kids and pets away from swollen river banks.
