It's going to be a busy night for St. Catharines council.
During tonight's meeting, councillors will consider a ban on plastic water bottles at municipally owned facilities, and a motion urging theĀ Niagara Region to review the Emterra contract and explore alternate waste collection service providers.
The latter motion comes in the wake of chronic Christmas delays picking up garbage and recycling across Niagara due in part to staffing shortages and an aging fleet of vehicles.
Council will also debate whether to support a motion backed by Port Colborne and Thorold strongly opposing the resolution approved the Niagara Regional council respecting the financial position of the town of Pelham.
The motion also asks St.Catharines councillors to object to the region and its audit committee interfering in a local municipality's finances.
