Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown is promising to restore the auditor general's ability to block partisan government ads if his party wins next year's provincial election.
Brown says his party would restore the oversight so hard-earned taxpayer dollars aren't wasted.
Auditor Bonnie Lysk has warned changes made by the Liberal government to the Government Advertising Act in 2015 have weakened her office to nothing but a ``rubber stamp'' for partisan government ads.
Brown says the province is spending 57-million dollars on ads this year and the Liberals are using that money to promote their re-election bid when it could be going to heath care, education or other services Ontarians need.
