Ontario N-D-P leader Andrea Horwath is admitting her party made a 1.4-billion dollar annual costing mistake in their election platform.
Horwath conceded Sunday that the miscounting of a 700-million dollar annual reserve fund as revenue rather than an expense will affect deficit projections for several years.
But she insists the error amounts to only a fraction of the province's overall budget and will have little affect on the party's campaign platform for the June 7th vote.
The Liberals quickly jumped on the gaffe, claiming it would amount to a seven-billion-dollar shortfall over five years, and, in turn, lead to higher taxes and lower job growth.
They say it shows the New Democrats aren't ready to take on P-C leader Doug Ford and keep Ontario's economy strong.
The N-D-P has been buoyed by recent polls showing it has attracted the attention of voters as a potential alternative to the long-governing Liberals under Premier Kathleen Wynne.
