NDP Leader Andrea Horwath arrived at the proposed GO Train station in St.Catharines on her large orange bus this afternoon.
Horwath addressing a small crowd of supporters outside the current VIA Rail Station on Great Western Street.
She promised the NDP will build and expand local and regional transit and provide year-round GO Rail service between Niagara and Toronto.
The NDP platform states it will make life smoother for transit riders by restoring the province's 50% share of net operating costs for municipal transit.
She wants to implement a Southwest Transportation strategy the integrates public transit.
She says people in Niagara have been squeezed long enough and it's time for a change that will look after the growing number of commuters in the region connecting them with their dream job or quality education.
Horwath will join CKTB's Matt Holmes for an interview at 4:15 this afternoon.
