Regional Chief Isadore Day says First Nations in Ontario have little to celebrate on Canada Day.
Day says prior to Confederation, indigenous people were self-determining Nations with distinct cultures, languages, laws, traditions, and a unique understanding of the land and environment.
He says Canada Day represents 150 years of assimilation, genocide, neglect and marginalization.
Day says the Ontario Chiefs in Assembly is strongly encouraging all First Nations to boycott Canada 150 celebrations both on-reserve and in urban centres.
