The provincial government says it is giving 1.9 million dollars to Ducks Unlimited Canada to help restore wetlands in southern Ontario.
The province says its new partnership with Ducks Unlimited will see the conservation group head a new committee made up of environmental groups, industry, conservation authorities and indigenous people.
The group will also be tasked with rehabilitating and improving wetland systems throughout southern Ontario, including important coastal areas.
The government says wetlands are important because they lower the risk of flooding and drought, prevent erosion and help moderate climate extremes.
