Ontario is set to increase fines for residents not following COVID-19 rules.
Premier Doug Ford says Ontario will have the highest fines in the country for people who violate public health guidelines for social gatherings.
Ford says he will discuss the new measures aimed at lowering the number of people allowed at social gatherings with his cabinet later today.
The current limit on social gatherings is 50 people indoors and 100 outdoors.
He also hinted that a deal with private sector companiesĀ is coming soon to help residents without symptoms get tested.
People with symptoms will need to go to an assessment centre.
There is as goal to increase Ontario tests to 78,000 per day.
Ontario's current testing levels are around 25,000 a day.
Ford is expected to unveil a new strategy later this week to address a possible second wave of COVID-19.
