Three suicides in as many weeks have prompted Ontario's ombudsman to consider taking another look at how provincial police deal with officers who suffer serious stress on the job.
Paul Dube says he has asked his staff to assess new complaints and issues related to suicides and operational stress injuries among Ontario Provincial Police officers.
Dube says he wants to see whether a follow-up systemic investigation is warranted.
The ombudsman last looked into the issue in 2012, coming up with 34 recommendations.
Following the three suicides, the head of the provincial police union wrote an emotional letter to his members last month urging them to get help if needed.
The deaths prompted the commissioner to announce a review, but Dube says more might be needed.
