Doug Ford hosted his first party convention over the weekend.
Among the highlights, Brian Patterson a veteran party organizer won the presidency of the Ontario PC party.
Patterson has worked with every leader dating back to the 1980's when Bill Davis was Premier, he had key roles in the governments of Mike Harris and Ernie Eves, and helped rebuild the party after the Liberals swept to power in 2003.
The province's 15 billion dollar deficit was also discussed, with the Premier telling the crowd of some 2-thousand Conservatives that it could take four years to get it under control.
The party also adopted a resolution from parental rights advocate Tanya Granic Allen.
It says says the Tories should recognize gender identity as a ``Liberal ideology'' and remove it from Ontario's sex-ed curriculum
The resoluation is non-binding on the government and will be debated more formally at next year's party policy convention.
