The pandemic has led to more people exploring the great outdoors, but it has also landed some in hospital.
The Ontario Poison Centre is reporting a rise in calls related to mushrooms.
The centre says people are foraging for the fungi and some people have been hospitalized after eating wild mushrooms.
Twice as many calls related to mushroom exposure came into the centre in September.
It says that while foraging for mushrooms is gaining popularity as an outdoor activity during the COVID-19 pandemic, those with limited experience shouldn't take the risk.
The centre says mistaking poisonous mushrooms for edible ones could cause serious consequences such as nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Eating poisonous mushrooms can also cause liver failure, seizures and comas.
