Niagara-on-the-Lake Mayor Betty Disero says town council is pleased following a court ruling that dismissed an application regarding the Randwood Estate.
Last Friday, an Ontario Superior Court ruled against the Two Sisters' application to quash the town's bylaw and notices of intention to designate Randwood under the Ontario Heritage Act.
The court also ordered Two Sisters' to pay costs to both the Town and citizen's group Save Our Rand Estate (SORE).
Disero stated “Council is pleased with the decision from The Honourable Justice L. M. Walters and is waiting to hear from our legal team on appropriate next steps. Our legal team will report back to Council once they have had an opportunity to fully review the decision.”
The Randwood estate is being developed by Benny Marotta of Two Sisters resorts and Solmar homes.
The developer launched the court challenge of the town's plan to designate the Rand Estate under the Heritage Act back in August of 2018.
