On Monday, Niagara's Acting Chief Medical Officer of Health told CKTB our region could tolerate stage 2 of the province's reopening plan but Niagara was left off the list to make the jump.
Health Minister Christine Elliott said the decision on which municipalities would make the jump to stage 2 was based on consultation with every local medical officer of health in the province.
Niagara's three NDP MPP's say Dr. Mustafa Hirji was not consulted and they're demanding answers from the Premier.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosteroff admits he was suprised to hear Hirji was not consulted by the Provincial Medical Officer's Team.
He said he spoke with team members who assured him they did speak to Niagara's top health official.
However, Oosteroff reserved comment until he speaks to Dr. Hirji himself.
He plans to reach out to him today.
Niagara and the rest of the GTHA and Windsor are all remaining in phase one of the reopening plan.
