An open house for residents last night to see plans for the redevelopment of the Lincoln Fabrics building in Port Dalhousie.
Mayor of St.Catharines Walter Sendzik says the owner of the Lakeport Road property wants to reuse and rehabilitate the original portion of the historic factory building.
Sendzik says there was a great turn out at the meeting with lots of people asking questions.
He says the plans incorporate the old Lincoln Fabrics building but bring a more modern look to the space.
The owners, which brought the property in June want to add to the current building with additions and expansions that will include 153 residential units, 11 ground-floor homes and office space.
For the plan to move forward, the city must approve an application for a zoning bylaw amendment.
The city’s planning and building services department will use comments from last night's meeting in a report that will be brought forward to city council.
