Niagara Regional Police kicked off the Thanksgiving long weekend by conducting R.I.D.E. checks, for the launch of "Operation Impact."
Police stopped about 450 vehicles in Welland and Niagara Falls last night.
One driver was arrested for being over the legal limit and another was issued a three-day suspension.
"Operation Impact" focuses on "the Big Four" --- impaired driving, improper seatbelt use, aggressive and distracted driving.
It runs untill Thanksgiving Monday.
