Ontario Provincial Police are ready to kick off their festive RIDE program for the holiday season.
The driving blitz starts today when OPP officers will be monitoring roads and highways throughout the region, on the lookout for impaired drivers, and to enforce the rules of the road.
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says 39 people have died this year as a result of drunk drivers in the province.
OPP reminding drivers to never allow themselves to drink and drive, never allow someone you suspect is impaired to drink and drive, and if you are out on the road and suspect a driver is impaired, call 911.
The campaign runs until Jan. 2.
