If you're heading out on Ontario highways this Civic long weekend, be aware, the OPP will be out in full force as part of its Slow Down and Move Over campaign.
Last year the force laid over 1,800 charges against motorists who violated Ontario's Move Over Law designed to protect police, emergency personell and tow trucks drivers who have to park or stop on the side of the highway to give assistance.
Police say there have been close to 700 incidents in the past five years in which an OPP vehicle was struck by another vehicle while parked or stopped on the roadside.
The driving blitz kicks off today.
