The OPP are reporting nine lives were lost during the Canada Day long weekend.
Five people were killed in four vehicle crashes, one person died in a collision involving an off road vehicle, and three people drowned.
Officials say all victims were men between 21 and 61 years old.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says investigations into the deaths are ongoing, but speed will be looked at as a potential factor.
"Over 8,800 charges were laid during the Canada Day long weekend," Schmidt breaks down the numbers of the annual OPP blitz. "Over 5,300 of them were for speeding directly. Another 180 vehicles and drivers were taken off the road for stunt driving or street racing."

Speeding: 5,303
Stunt driving, racing: 180
Hazardous moving violations: 573
Seat belt offences: 418
Distracted driving: 116
Alcohol/drug-impaired driving: 96
