The OPP investigation into the Burgoyne Bridge in St.Catharines has wrapped up and its found no criminal wrongdoing.
It was back in February of 2017, the Niagara Regional Police Service asked the OPP to investigate the replacement project in St. Catharines which ran 40 million dollars over budget.
Niagara taxpayers were left to pay the bill for the cost overruns.
Members of the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch, led by a Major Case Manager of the Criminal Investigation Branch, conducted an investigation and have concluded there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing with respect to the project, or any of the other matters brought forward in the Deliotte Report or by Regional Councillors pertaining to procurement or conflicts of interest within the Niagara Region.
"This matter has been thoroughly investigated and I would like to thank the investigative teams that were involved for their time and dedication to bringing this matter to a conclusion" said NRPS Chief Bryan MacCulloch.
This now concludes the investigation and police involvement in the matter.
