Ottawa reportedly offering incentives to get Ford to produce EVs in Ontario

The Toronto Star has learned that Ottawa and the province are offering half a billion dollars to finance electric vehicle production at the Ford plant in Oakville

The Toronto Star has learned that Ottawa and the province are offering half a billion dollars to finance electric vehicle production at the Ford plant in Oakville.

The federal govenrment reportedly told the company it is willing to do what it takes to bring electric vehicle production to Ontario and that it will eventually invest 2 billion dollars. 

The exact amount from the Ontario government is still being negotiated. 

This comes after Unifor called on Ottawa to invest in a national auto strategy. 

The union is in the midst of labour negotiations with Ford and face a midnight deadline.
