New data shows 32-hundred Canadians died after apparent opioid-related overdoses in the first nine months of 2018.
The Public Health Agency of Canada says B-C, Alberta and Ontario posted the highest numbers of deaths.
Seventy-three per cent of the accidental overdoses involved fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances.
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says the figures are a stark reminder of the importance of ramping up efforts to stop the opioid epidemic.
