The clock is quickly running out for the St. Catharines Overdose Prevention Site.
Positive Living Niagara has been hosting the Queenston Street site since late last year, but the temporary licence they have been operating under will expire at the end of this month.
Health Minister Christine Elliott is reviewing the applications for 21 overdose prevention sites in the province to see if they will fall in line with the government's new vision.
Approved sites would transition to 'consumption treatment sites' focused on treatment and rehabilitation.
In the meantime, Ontario Health has released stats showing more than 600 people died from opioid related causes between January and June of last year - a 15% increase from the year before.
