Paramedics with the Canadian Union of Public Employees are taking issue with the provincial government's plan to revamp its ambulance system.
The government says the new system it plans to start rolling out next March would redirect patients with less pressing needs to places other than emergency rooms.
But the paramedics say diverting and triaging patients who call 9-1-1 for emergency medical care away from hospitals could bring many risks for the patients.
CUPE Ontario president Fred Hahn says a better solution would be to put more paramedics on the road.
