St. Catharines residents are invited to voice their opinion tonight on a plan that will see the city offer pay by phone parking in the downtown core.
The public meeting, to be held during tonight's city council meeting, will get input on the proposal that would allow residents to use their cell phones to keep the metres running.
Motorists would still be able to feed coins into the metres but will also be given the option of paying via their mobile phones.
The added advantage is drivers would get an alert that their time at the metre is running out, and would allow them to add time to avoid getting hit with a $12 parking ticket.
Council is expected to vote on the plan after the public meeting.
