The PC candidate in the provincial by-election for the riding of Niagara West-Glanbrook says winning the nomination wasn't a surprise.
19 year old Sam Oosterhoff joined CKTB this morning saying he worked very hard and could feel the momentum heading into the nomination meeting.
The Brock University student says hydro rates are the number one issue in the riding.
Oosterhoff says improved health care was also a hot topic with many residents looking for funding for the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Oosterhoff calls himself a "comprehensive conservative" saying he is well grounded in the conservative philosophy and tradition.
He says that means everyone has an equal voice and is respected.
He says this by-election is all about making sure the Ontario Liberals are held accountable and Niagara has a voice at Queen's Park.
NDP Candidate Mike Thomas joins CKTB's Lee Sterry at 1:15 this afternoon.
Liberal Candidate Vicky Ringuette is also running in the riding.
For the Green Party, Donna Cridland is running in the November 17th by-election.
CKTB will host a candidate debate in-studio November 10th from 12-1pm with host Tom McConnell.
