Pelham will not be asking the Region to cough up more than $165,287 following a lengthy dispute over the town's finances.
That's the amount of money the town has put up to fight allegations of financial mismanagement; the costs include a KPMG audit, an expert panel for a town hall meeting, and legal costs.
Recently, the Ombudsman's Office also ruled a September meeting at the heart of the allegation was correctly held and the Minister of Municipal Affairs urged the two parties to get along.
Mayor Dave Augustyn says that's what they intend to do.
"People are tired of this discussion. They want it to go away and they want to see us working together, and that's what Minister Mauro said when he sent a letter to both the town and the Region."
Council voted to drop the motion requesting repayment earlier this week.
Pelham Councillor Gary Accursi was the only one to speak in favour of requesting the repayment, saying it would 'send a message to the Region.'
