The town of Pelham's finances will be back in the spotlight tonight at Niagara Regional Council.
Council will hear from two residents requesting what they call a real forensic audit be done on the town's financial picture.
Former town councillor Marvin Junkin who quit last year after accusing the town of having a hidden debt of 17 million, says in a letter to the region, he would like to outline his reasons why regional council, should vote to request the province conduct an independent audit of the town's books.
Junkin contends the report by auditor KPMG that found there was no hidden debt was a forensic review and not the forensic audit promised by town council.
Also addressing council tonight, Niagara on the Lake businessman, Rainer Hummel who also will ask the region to support calls by its audit committee for a real forensic audit to be conducted by the province on behalf of Pelham ratepayers.
But those requests may meet with an uphill battle, Welland, Port Colborne, St. Catharines and Thorold councils have all voted in the last few weeks in favour of a motion that essentially asks the region to stay out of Pelham's finances.
