The town of Pelham will hold a public meeting to answer any taxpayers questions about the town's financial picture.
The moves comes after Port Colborne Regional Councillor Dave Barrick, brought forward a motion at last week's regional council meeting, expressing concern Pelham's debt load had the potential to impact the region's credit rating.
Pelham is in the midst of funding several capital projects including a $36 million community centre.
This week, Pelham council addressed the motion and the fact Mayor Dave Augustyn was unable to speak to it, after it was quickly deferred and sent to committee for discussion.
In a release, town officials says there are several discrepancies in Barrick's motion including an accusation Pelham has a budget shortfall of one million dollars .
Officials say the town has posted a surplus of close to $200,000 for the last three years.
Town councillors have also invited Barrick and Grimsby Councillor Tony Quirk to attend a council meeting to address their concerns.
