A very successful IceDogs 2016-2017 season came to an end with a a 6-2 loss to Peterborough. The Petes move on to the East semi-final with the 4-0 series win.
Kirill Masimov, with his 4th in as many games opened the scoring in the first and Danial Singer's 2nd of the post-season in the second scored the IceDogs' goals.
An IceDogs squad that iced as many as 12 rookies managed to defy expectations and qualify for the 2017 playoffs.
Earlier Thursday, the OHL announced their 2016-2017 awards finalists. Coach David Bell is up for coach of the year, while first year forward Akil Thomas is nominated for Rookie of the Year. Captain Ryan Mantha was noted in two categories, Overage Player of the year and the year's top defenceman. Goaltender Stephen Dhillon is also the IceDogs nominee for Outstanding Player of the season.
Next up is the IceDogs team player awards. The team will also select 5th in the annual OHL Priority Selection draft on Saturday April 8th.
