With the world facinated by the old scow in the Niagara River, the great grandson of the man credited with saving two crew members aboard that scow over a hundred years ago, is hoping to get a statue erected to honour Red Hill Sr.
Attention turned to the old barge Halloween night, when after more than a hundred years, in the water above the Horseshoe Falls, it moved.
With the help of drone technology the Niagara Parks Commission has been able to determine one end of the scow moved 33 metres and the other end another 43 metres.
Kipp Finn says his great grandfather, Red Hill Sr., was the one who went out on a line to untangle the breaches which led to the rescue of two crewmembers on the scow at the top of the falls.
Finn has launched a change. org petition in the hopes of convincing Niagara Falls City Council to honour his great grandfather with a statue.
