The DSBN's Board of Trustees are considering a plan that would merge three local high schools into one.
The public board's trustees were handed a staff report last night that recommends Beamsville District, Grimbsy Secondary and South Lincoln High School shut down and a new central school be built in their place.
Staff say the move is necessary because of declining enrollment and the cost of repairing the three aging schools.
A new high school would be able to offer more academic courses, extra curricular activities and more flexible timetable choices.
Enrollment in the three schools has dropped 28% over the past five years, with a combined $26 million dollars in repairs needed.
A final decision won't be made until the board receives input from the public.
