The police union says a white Atlanta officer who was fired after shooting a Black man in a fast food parking lot Friday night was terminated without due process and without an investigation.
Rayshard Brooks was shot by officers outside a Wendy's restaurant where he was found sleeping in a car blocking the drive-thru lane.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the 27-year-old was shot after he failed a field sobriety test and fought with an officer over a Taser while resisting arrest.
A spokesperson for the union says the fired officer and a second who has been placed on administrative duty are being vilified.
