NIagara Regional Councillor and Police Board Chair Bob Gale speaking out this morning on yesterday's shooting in Pelham between two officers.
Gale says the board is deeply concerned by the shooting incident.
He says the law requires that there be no public comment or discussion of the specifics of the occurrence when the SIU is investigating.
Gale says that restriction also applies to every member of the police board.
As such, the Board will make no comment in the circumstances and will not offer any opinion.
He added the board extends their thoughts and prayers to the officers and their families.
Meanwhile, the 52 year old Niagara Regional Police officer shot remains listed in stable condition this morning after being shot by a fellow officer.
The incident happened just after the noon hour Thursday afternoon in Pelham on Roland Road at Sulpher Springs Drive.

An interaction occurred between the two officers that resulted in the shooting.
The SIU and OPP are now handling the probe into the shooting
NRP say the injured officer has 28 years of service.
Niagara Regional Police Chief Bryan MacCulloch issued a statement on the incident last night asking the public to support NRP members and all those involved.
The St.Catharines Standard is identifying the officers involved as Constable Nathan Parker and Det. Sgt. Shane Donovan of the traffic collision reconstruction unit.
