Police in St. Catharines are reaching out to residents who live near a sexual assault which occurred Thursday afternoon as the investigation continues.
A woman is her 70's says she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man in his 20's or 30's in the Hydro Hill area of St. Catharines while she was walking alone.
Detectives have now determined that the victim was first attacked as she walked eastbound, along the edge of the roadway on Lockhart Drive, she was then forced into the nearby woods.
This area has been determined to be an industrial / commercial area at the western end of Lockhart Drive.
The woman was brought to hospital, but police say she is now at home recovering.
The suspect is described as a man between 25-35 yrs old with tan skin, 5’7-5’10, dark eyes, scruffy facial hair, dark short wavy hair with a skinny athletic "strong" build.
He was wearing black bottoms and a grey shirt with black pattern or symbol on the front.
The identity of the suspect is unknown.
Detectives are asking residents, business operators or motorists who live, work or were driving in the area (1-2 km radius) with video surveillance.
Police are looking for video surveillance from the 2-3 hours before the sexual assault to the 1 hour (9:00am-1:00pm) after it are asked to review the footage for the suspect or anything suspicious in nature that may be related to this incident.
