Niagara Regional Police say another store front drug trafficking operation has been busted and they are reminding the public that pot -- for the most part-- is still illegal.
During the month of July the NRP's Guns, Gangs and Grows Unit started investigating claims that marijuana was being illegally sold at the Niagara Cannabis Club located at 108 Hartzel Road, St.Catharines.
The club was also searched back in May when a quantity of marijuana and marijuana infused products also known as "edibles" were seized.
As a result of information received and observations made, police obtained a search warrant for 108 Hartzel Road along with homes on Pelham Road, Turner Cr. and Leaside Drive in St.Catharines.
This week, police searched the Hartzel Road club and the homes seizing thousands of dollars worth of marijuana and cash.
68 year old Ernest Kirby and 37 year old Amanda Keeping are charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds Over $5000.
50 year old Kelly Kirby and 52 year old Timothy Robitaille are charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds Over $5000.
Police are reminding residents that storefronts or private clubs claiming to be a legitimate source of marijuana are not authorized to distribute pot and related products as these products are derived from illegal sources.
As of this time, pot must be bought through a licensed producer authorized by Health Canada or by the way of a Personal/Designated Production Licence.
