Police are now treating a woman's death as a homicide after a house explosion in Kitchener.
On Wednesday, debris from the explosion rained down on the neighbourhood as several nearby homes caught fire; the home at the centre of the explosion was levelled while two others suffered extensive damage.
Waterloo Regional Police now say Edresilda Haan was the victim of a homicide.
During an update yesterday afternoon Inspector Mike Haffner said, "As a result of the post-mortem and with the information from our major crime investigators we have determined that Miss Haan's death was the result of a homicide. I can't provide further information as the investigation is in the infancy and continuing, however we are confident her death is the result of a homicide."
Police say although he is not currently considered a suspect, they want to talk to a man who was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the explosion. Family members have identified him as Haan's husband.
