A new poll suggests Canadian attitudes toward climate change are about as consistent as Canadian weather.
A January Leger online poll of more than 15-hundred Canadians found three-quarters of them believed the balmy December was the result of climate change and 81 per cent of them enjoyed it.
At the same time, two-thirds of respondents said they were worried by the weirdly warm weather.
Similarly, solid majorities said Canada is experiencing more wildfires, heat waves, late-onset winters and smoky skies, but the same solid majority said they hadn't been personally affected.
Leger vice-president Christian Bourque says people may not be making the connection between general concerns and events in their own lives.
Still, he says the most recent poll shows a pattern of concern about the issues that's consistent across all demographics.
But Bourque says policymakers have to be careful of asking for more change from people than they're prepared to make.
