Another company in Niagara has joined the ranks of Certified Living Wage Employers.
The Niagara Poverty Reduction Network has announced Beechwood Doughnuts in St. Catharines will be paying a living wage to their 10 full time and 11 part time staff.
President of the popular vegan destination Tayler Book says Beechwood wouldn't have become what it is today without the hardworking staff, and wanted to give back as much as possible.
A 'living wage' is defined as the amount workers need to be paid based on the actual cost of living in Niagara; the Poverty Reduction Network has set the rate at $17.99.
The provincial minimum wage currently sits at $14 per hour.
