A popular Fort Erie beach will remain closed to the general public as the pandemic continues.
Bay Beach, also known as Crystal Beach, will remain closed to anyone without a Fort Erie resident season pass.
Resident season passes for the beach are being offered to Fort Erie residents, Fort Erie taxpayers and Fort Erie short-term rental operators with proof of address such as a driver's license, passport, tax bill or any bill that shows the person’s name and address.
There is no charge for the pass.
Passes and day passes will not be available on-site for health and safety reasons.
Residents will be able to get theirs at the Leisureplex and Crystal Ridge arenas at a future date, with more details coming soon.
A maximum of 2,000 people will be allowed entry to Bay Beach per day (with no exceptions) to ensure physical distancing measures can be practiced.
“The decision to keep Bay Beach closed to visitors was a tough one but we believe that it was the right choice for Fort Erie. We are a small town with limited resources. It’s important that we put the proper restrictions in place to ensure we can manage the beach according to the new health and safety guidelines put forth by the Province. We will happily welcome back our visitors as soon as we feel it's safe for everyone to enjoy,” said Tom Kuchyt, Chief Administrative Officer.
