Port Colborne has elected Bill Steele as their new mayor.
Steele won over former Wainfleet alderman and acting mayor Betty Konc by about 700 votes.
Also running were Wayne Elliott, and Ron St. Jean.
Incumbent Mayor John Maloney did not seek re-election.
Born and raised in Port Colborne, the Steele name is well-known in the city.
He has been President of the Port Colborne Lions Club, President of the Port Colborne Jaycees, and President of the Port Colborne Minor Hockey Association.
Steele served 17 years on Port Colborne City Council representing Ward One from 1996 until 2014.
As mayor, he told CKTB he wants to put a strong plan together, that is financially viable for the city.
He's also dedicated to lowering Port Colborne's water bills.
Port Colborne is made up of 4 Wards, each with 2 councillors.
Ward 1 elected Mark Bagu and Donna Kalailieff.
Ward 2 elected Eric Beauregard and Angie Desmarais.
Ward 3 has yet to announce their candidates.
Ward 4 elected Ron Bodner and Harry Wells.
Other than mayor, Port Colborne also elects one regional councillor.
Out of 4 candidates, Barbara Butters won the title.
