In theory, you'll be able to buy cannabis from legal brick and mortar pot shops by this time next week.
But it looks like that deadline may come a little too soon for many licence holders.
In Niagara, authorization has been given for The Niagara Herbalist to open in St. Catharines, and the public consultation period for the proposed Choom Cannabis store in Niagara Falls closed recently.
The consultation for the Hello Cannabis Store in Hamilton won't close until tomorrow, meanwhile public consultation for a store in Toronto closes on April 2nd - one day after stores are meant to open.
In total, 12 stores are still in the public consultation phase while 3 licence holders haven't submitted plans at all.
25 stores are supposed to open in Ontario on April 1st or face fines for failing to meet the deadline - Finance Minister Vic Fedeli says stores could face a $50,000 penalty if they fail to open in a timely manner.
