A powerful earthquake in Mexico has killed at least 44 people and caused widespread damage.
Thousands of panicked residents streamed out of buildings in Mexico City during the 7.1 magnitude quake.
Traffic came to a standstill as masses of workers blocked streets and clouds of dust rose from fallen pieces of facades.
The airport is closed.
There are also reports of damage to buildings in central Mexico.
The U-S Geological Survey says the quake was centred about 120 kilometers southeast of Mexico City.
The quake came less than two weeks after another quake left 90 dead in the country's south.
