Premier Kathleen Wynne has rejected a call from municipalities to raise the provincial sales tax to help pay for infrastructure.
Wynne says she won't consider an idea that would make it harder for Ontario residents to make ends meet.
The Association of Municipalities of Ontario says local governments are facing a shortfall of $ 4.9-billion dollars over the next decade and proposed a sales tax hike to raise funds to maintain and build roads, bridges and transit.
But Wynne says the province has already committed to billions of dollars of infrastructure spending that should help in the coming years.
