The safety of American forces in the Middle East is being threatened following the assassination of Iran's top general in a U-S airstrike near Baghdad.
In an interview on state television, the head of Iran's parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy says quote ``When the U-S is killing Iranian forces outside of Iran, the U-S must see its troops killed at its bases in the region.''
A senior Revolutionary Guard commander says if the U-S doesn't immediately leave the area, the White House should start ordering caskets for soldiers.
Iran's Supreme Leader has warned that a harsh retaliation is waiting for the U-S in the death of General Qassem Soleimani.
The Pentagon confirmed U-S President Donald Trump directed the airstrike in Iraq that killed Soleimani.
The Defense Department says the airstrike near Baghdad International Airport was meant to deter future Iranian attacks.
The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, or PMF.
