A protest will be held at the Skyway Animal Hospital in St.Catharines this afternoon.
Public outrage erupted last September when video was released of the owner and operator of the Welland Ave. clinic, Dr.Mahavir Rekhi choking and hitting animals in his care.
The College of Veterinarians of Ontario suspended Rekhi for 10 months on August 20th for professional misconduct, but his sentence could be reduced if he attended additional training.
Dr. Rekhi told CKTB News back in November that he had no plans on selling the building and he would be able to practice again in February.
He said tough times were ahead, but he wasn't a person who would run away from things.
Protestors believe he will be able to re-open the clinic this Monday February 20th.
They will be gathering in front of the clinic at noon today.
So far, no criminal charges have been laid but an investigation continues by the Lincoln County Humane Society.
The LCHS was executed a search warrant at the facility back on December 7th.
