Premier Kathleen Wynne has announced action to support the forestry sector after the U-S imposed duties of up to 24 per cent on Canadian softwood lumber.
Wynne says funding for forest access roads that run through Crown lands is being increased by 20-million dollars.
Ontario is also calling on the federal government to establish a loan guarantee program as well as community and individual supports for people employed by Canadian companies
that are being hurt by the tariffs.
The province has also named a chief negotiator to represent the province in the softwood lumber dispute -- former federal cabinet minister Jim Peterson.
