Municipalities and residents throughout much of Ontario are braced for flooding as steady rains continue to drench areas already soaked by above-average precipitation levels.
The eastern Ontario community of Clarence-Rockland has declared a state of emergency and Environment Canada climatologist David Phillips says the rain is also expected to lead to flooding in the Ottawa area.
The weather agency is forecasting 50 to 90 millimetres of rain for communities across the southern and eastern parts of the province.
Premier Kathleen Wynne says emergency teams are on alert and government officials are keeping a close eye on the situation province-wide.
