The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has selected a Canadian company to operate a new expanded gaming facility slated for Woodbine Racetrack.
The OLG making the announcement today that it has selected a consortium led by the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation as the service provider for a new expanded gaming facility planned for Woodbine Racetrack, as well as existing gaming facilities at Ajax Downs and the Great Blue Heron Casino in Port Perry.
Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has 22 existing facilities, which includes 14 casinos.
For years Toronto residents who wanted to gamble had to make the trip to Niagara Falls or north of Orillia to Casino Rama.
Niagara politicians have expressed concerned over the OLG's plans for gaming in Ontario, saying it may cost thousands of jobs in the region.
