Two Niagara cities, slated to host the first wave of cannabis stores in the province, getting an update from the Wynne government on next steps in the process.
Niagara Falls and St. Catharines receiving a letter from Finance Minister Charles Sousa promising funding to help with incremental costs.
Sousa says now that the feds have agreed to a cost sharing plan with the provinces, his government will meet with municipalities to discuss their share of the tax money from the sale of legalized pot to offset costs such as policing.
The Finance Minister adds talks with host cities will begin next month.
