A nurses group says it applauds the province for being willing to put the case of a nurse who murdered eight long term care residents under the microscope.
The province announced a public inquiry into the deaths yesterday shortly after Elizabeth Wettlaufer was sentenced in Woodstock to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
The Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario says it's been demanding an inquiry since Wettlaufer pleaded guilty earlier this month.
Advocacy groups CARP and the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly say an inquiry is a critical first step to restoring trust in the long term health care system.
